Most people still don't understand that the web is the moral equivalent of the mainframe model from ages ago. The webbrowser has replaced the dumb terminal, the webserver the mainframe computer.
To create this new kind of true shared computing environment all one needs is a software platform like MOBIE where, in addition to many other benefits, a website becomes a computing resource, not just an information resource.

MOBIE, the software that runs this site, and many others, has been upgraded to version 0.8.1.2. This fixes some issues with the public side discussion forum components, fixes many issues with the goalTracker reports and adds attachment support to the CLOG public side article posting/blogging system.
We continue our slow march towards an opensource release of much of MOBIE and all of formVista.

MOBIE 0.8.1.0 has been released to hosted customers. We are continuing our slow march towards a public open source release of both MOBIE and formVista. There's no official release date yet but we're shooting to have an initial public release before summer is over. Both products will be released under the RPL.
MOBIE 0.8.1.0 fixes and improvements include:
- fixes to persistent sessions (formVista bug 61) So now the "Remember My Login" feature of the login component should work.
- goalTracker now has better concurrency which should make the goalTrackProcessor run much faster and prevent the front-end sites from being affected when reports are run. (mobie bug 79 )
- back end calendar entries can once again be flagged to appear on goalTracker reports ( mobie bug 105 )
- goalTracker reports now cascade properly ( mobie bug 80 )
- the Trouble Ticket iCMS components have been extended to include a number of features of interest to those doing multi-tiered support. A ticket list hotspot can be configured to be "2nd tier support" friendly to allow the support person to include contact information about the reporter of a ticket. Contact records are created and a history entry added (or updated if the contact already exists) in the central contact manager.
- trouble ticket notification emails now contain the correct ID.
There have been many underlying bugfixes and other improvements as well.

A friend/customer of ours just forwarded a link to an article discussing an alternate way to count ad impressions that uses client-side javascript. This has the advantage that it would automatically cause the overwhelming majority of bots to get filtered out, as most bots don't implement javascript.

MOBIE 0.8.0.24 is now available to our customers. The most important change that we know many of you have been waiting for is the new HTML editor support. We have created our own fork of the rapidly developed Xinha editor which we call AreaEdit.
This should finally bring to an end the mysterious "locking up" problems we've been experiencing under FireFox and other Gecko based browsers when editing html content.
Other improvements include:
- RSS feeds for ticket lists, clogs and forums should now work.
- contact_us_gateway component publishing now works.
- you can now search for users by public alias in the contact manager.

Mostly this release addresses a few minor RSS feed generation bugs and some changes to the formVista persistent login code. Persistent logins should work now.
I've also changed the caching headers which should make things noticeably snappier.

It's been a very busy week.
MOBIE 0.8.0.21 has been released to customers. This release features:
- front end integration into the burgeoning backend CRM.
- all contact forms go straight into the contact manager.
- three kinds of forums now, public, private and invitation only.
- all content for forum emails and webpage feedback is user controllable.
- password reminders
- persistent logins.
- reply-to is now set correctly on all admin notification emails.
In addition a number of bugs have been fixed.

MOBIE 0.8.0.18 has been released.
It features the newly integrated Xinha HTML editor maintained by GOGO Code.
The new editor fixes the vast majority of problems with the old, and very buggy, HTMLArea editor we had been using.
We've added a modified version of the standard Linker plugin. Using this modified linker has the effect that links to pages on the site within content you enter will no longer need to be updated when the names of pages change or their locations change.
Also included in the new editor are the Imagemanager and a new spellchecker.

For our customers, MOBIE 0.8.0.17 has been released. This release includes an updated formVista build that fixes the PHP symbol table corruption problems we were noticing and, as a side effect, seems to speed things up noticeably. It also includes a number of bug fixes and mobie_demo_assets style sheet tweaks.
